Haiku Ellipses...Invitation...Response...

 DIAMOND STARE diamonds on her back coiling into a spiral starring into me The coiling of the purple diamond shapes on the back of this female snake end at her head with red sparkling diamonds that seem to stare into me when i gaze with soft eyes. She is surrounded by brown earth yet at the center where her head rests is a lively green patch of grass, symbolizing earth and plant, hard and soft, yang and ying. ANYTHING can become the focus of a " diamond stare "...a contemplative gaze that begins on the rim of the object of focus (the ground in Gestalt terms) and moves toward the center (the figure in Gestalt) where one may experience the feeling of being starred at (see Rupert Sheldrake's book The Sense of Being Stared At ), and/or the feeling of mutual gaze (a resonant connection). As we are gazed upon, perhaps we are in some sense "known," and the wisdom of the "other" comes into us.

Into the black box of an unknown process that will transform us...uncertainty, courage, fear, worry, concern, hope...all of these feelings abound when entering the door, crossing the threshold, into the unseen inner workings of a process that will change us. At the start, we cannot say how long we will be in the process, along the journey, traveling and experiencing life.  At some point, we will exit through another door inviting us to "go out," to leave the now more familiar, and enter another place/space/time. Through this exit door, we can look back, perceiving how we are transformed , in a spiritual sense " re born again.   HIDDEN FIGURE Triangular shapes Reveal the hidden figure Standing at center Often i begin a mandalla type of drawing at the center of the page, developing areas that slowly expand toward the outwarder edges of the paper, not knowing how the final piece will turn out. Gradually, a " hidden figure " revealed itself at the center of the drawing below made of different shaped and colored triangles. Michael Schneider's Beginners guide to contructing the universe describes how triangles are part of a "scared geometry" through which we can create and observe the world. I'm not sure how to interpret the hidden figure  that is revealing itself at the center of the drawing: an African chief standing noble and tall, an Egyptian pharaoh of power and status sitting on a throne, an interdimensional being phrasing into our reality, an angelic being here to provide guidance and comfort... what does the hidden figure reveal for you? CRAZY 8's  Swirling around me Crazy 8's out of control Pull them to CENTER The multicolored figure 8's, off center and swirling, connected to the center by a colored tether, represent an infinity of "areas/ideas" in an individual's life. There are many ways to represent these: mind, body, spirit, or home, work, play, or self, other, nature, and divine, and so forth. In quantum physics, these infinity signs, represented as " crazy 8' s, " might be called "possibility waves or potentialities in the quantum field." Colloquially, we say these are possibility thoughts. When we place our attention/focus on these crazy 8's /waves/thoughts, they break through into our reality and become part of our center. Hence, the image of the intermingled crazy 8's in the center of the image. At center, we can play with them, work with them, add/subtract from them, dissolve them, interweave them...we engage and dance with them in the greater song o...

  K A L E I D O S C O P I N G colored squares align by 4 triangles cornered 1 kaleidoscope kaleidoscopes are usually circular shaped, but in this haiku i began in the middle of the image below with squares and kept building outward with more squares of different colors, ending in a pattern that seemed reminiscent of the kaledioscope i remember looking into as a child...the 4 green triangles (half squares) added to the 4 corners gives a feeling of dynamic motion, the changing patterns of the kaleidoscope, hence the title   " K A L E I D O S C O P I N G ." we only are conscious of a small part of our processing ability, some 50 bits of information per second, but we are actually processing over a million bits of information per second according to Willian Bengston...consider digesting, breathing, heartbeat, nerve impulses, respiration, listening, talking, movement, hearing, touching, smelling, tasting--even the air, seeing...ecopsychologist Michael Cohen posits 50-some sens...

  WHO IS THIS BEING? starting with 3 hearts adding circles, ears, and eyes who is this being? The first heart is centered in the figure while the other 2 hearts are upside down and joined to the right and left sides of the first heart...orange circles appear at the bottom while green ears connect atop the head, and black eyes appear just above the ear line inside the top halves of the first heart...there is s light pinkish but masculine shaped nose...some purple shading frames the mid to bottom outside parts of the figure. Is the being human, alien, e.t., a costumed teenager listening to music with headphones, and/or... imagination creates being. In beginning with 3 hearts, i had no intention of creating a "being"...the figure just "emerged" toward the end of the sketching with colored pencils...if we give our imagination a little space/room to run free, and follow and trust the process, something meaningful will unfold, something that wants to incarnate will be bor...

HEALING ENERGY energy flows from heart, arm, hands, other person and back to the heart William Bengston describes an energy flow during the process of healing in his book The Energy Cure . The energy begins inside the healer, presumably near the heart area, and flows out down the left arm and palm and into the other person through the hands in contact with the other person's body. The energy carries information for healing whatever the issue might be, and the energy returns to the healer via their right palm and hand, which is also in bodily contact with the person being healed, and continues up the right arm and presumably returns to the heart.  SHELL begin with 1 dot add 44 lines & curves living, breathing SHELL All things have their beginning with ONE.  From this single point of origin there are an infinite possibility of forms. In this haiku, lines and curves were added to the single dot, eventually forming what appeared as a living breathing sea shell. I did not intentionally set out to create a sea shell . I just began with a dot and started monkeying around, slowly something began to emerge, but i wasn't sure what, until near the end, it seemed the shape of a real living breathing sea shell .  Many times in life we go round in circles, chasing our tails like dogs sometimes do. This is okay for a game, for fun, but it's not a meaningful way to be and live in the long run. At some point, we need to evolve, make a move out of our cycle to create a point of origin for something new to develop. Often we don't know where to go from this point, only that we are on the path and travel with an loving intention....

HER CIRCLES Circular Colors with spiral arms spinning round moving inside HER Circle is the theme:  circle of colors,  circling spiral arms,  circle spinning,  circular movement inside. Multiple interpretations are possible:  multiple colored chakra centers inside her are spinning spirals,  one energy center is filled with many colors all spinning round,  the seed of life growing and spinning inside her circular womb... The perceptual move here is:  to see with circular eyes ,  see the circled colors all round us,  and perhaps more importantly,  to feel the different colored arms circling inside of us ,  our organs, cells, and blood...    

  ENFOLDED IN LOVE Seated, hands touch toes Head down to knees, breathing in... Surrounded by LOVE Sitting on the floor with legs outstretched, we reach our hands toward our toes, sometimes getting there (on good days when we've already stretched and feel flexible) and sometimes not. As our hands move toward our toes, our head moves downward in the direction of our knees, sometimes getting there, most of the times not. But, we can all reach and stretch to whatever degree we can, and we can all breath in to RELAX INTO the stretch. In doing so we might feel the breath of life entering our lungs, blood, organs, bones, cells...then we may begin to understand and experience being surrounded and interpenetrated by LOVE. This posture is one of many yoga asanas that are designed to bring health to the body's vehicle. By extension, we can add to this hatha yoga asanas the prana of the breath of life, consciously inhaling that which sustains us, feeling into the incoming breath and relax...
