SQUIGGLES & SCRIBBLES
squiggles & scribbles
weaving, tangling, waving
rushed & hurried mind
many small actions on my to do list are squiggles, others seem like half-baked scribbles...together they weave, tangle, wave in and out, creating a chaotic mess...signs of a rushed and hurried mind...Eknath Easwaran, a spiritual teacher at the Blue Mountain Center for Meditation, was fond of saying (paraphrasing), a fast mind is sick, a slow mind sound, and a still mind divine...
i often find myself running around, accomplishing many small tasks on my to do list, and then looking back at the end of the day feeling harried from the hurry, wondering where is my focus, what have i really accomplished...is my day just a series of squiggles and scribbles...a "mess"...the result of a rushed, hurried, and fast mind?
yes, some days are like that...at these times, i need to ground to the earth in nature, breath slowly through the nose until i feel calmer, actively appreciate the gift of life in and around me, remind myself that the best things in life are free...that i am alive, that today i can love and be loved...perhaps this is all that really matters...and if there are squiggles and scribbles with love mixed in, so be it!
